Team England's performances in Cricket World Cups.

England's team could be considered as one of the most unfortunate teams in cricket world cup history! They hosted cricket world cup four times, qualified for the finals three times, but never won any of them!

First three editions of cricket world cups were held in England (1975, 1979 and 1983). Later the 1999 edition was hosted by England. 

The team was eliminated in the semi-finals in 1975. In 1979, the team finished second losing to West Indies team. 1983, the team again finished its campaign in the semi-finals.

When the world cup moved to the Indian sub-continent in 1987, England team reached the finals. Their hopes of winning a world cup were lost when they lost to arch-rivals Australia in the finals.

1992 world cup again brought hopes for the team as they reached the finals in Australia. Playing against Pakistan, they lost a final yet again to the inspirational Imran Khan's team.

Since 1992, they haven't been upto the mark in any of the world cup campaigns.

After getting eliminated in the quarter finals of 1996 World Cup, they gave up in the first rounds of 1999 and 2003 editions. Their world cup run ended in the Super Eights of 2007 edition and quarter finals of 2011 edition. Jonathan Trott scored 422 runs from 7 matches (fourth highest run scorer in 2011 World Cup)

Overall England has played 66 World Cup matches - won 39, lost 25, one was tied and one ended without any result. 

England can leave a mark this time at 2015 cricket world cup with a relatively young ODI team. But the cricket fans have another opinion. Here is what they think:
