India faces a daunting task in South Africa

India vs South Africa 2018 Cricket Series Preview

Indian team has been riding high on confidence under Kohli's captaincy. Indian team enjoys the coveted number one spot in the ICC Test Rankings. Since the time they captured the top slot, this could be their toughest tour. It has always been a dream for any team to register a test series win in countries like Australia and South Africa. And please note - none of the sub-continent teams have ever done this in the past. Will this strong Indian team under Virat Kohli be able to achieve this feat still remains the question. Having said so, this could be one of the best visiting teams to South Africa that posts a threat to the home side. This post provides a preview on India's tour to South Africa that involves all three formats of cricket.

India's Chances:

This team under Virat has shown a great positive intent. Virat himself is a positive player with controlled aggression. His abilities reflect in the team's performance. With the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, KL Rahul, Murali Vijay, etc in the test side he can form a resolute batting order. On the other hand, likes of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Dhoni, etc make his ODI and T20 side look really strong. Bowling had always been on the weaker side till the mid of last year. But since then likes of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Shami, Bumrah, Ashwin, Jadeja, Chahal, etc have made the bowling side relatively strong.

Talking about India's chances of winning in South Africa, it is highly possible if they hold their heads high. South African pace battery would definitely give Indian batsmen some tough time. If the batsmen could hold their forts for atleast first 20 overs in the test matches, they are through to make big scores. The ball would swing  in the first hour and then it can provide relief to the batsmen.

South African batsmen too are capable of facing best of the bowling attacks in the world. Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers, Quinton de Kock, Dean Elgar, etc can destroy some really good bowling sides. So this would be a big test for the Indian bowlers too.

In all if we try to summarise the whole situation, if Indian team can believe in their worth and remember all the glorious moments they have achieved so far in last couple of years, they can have an upper hand. Probably a win in the earlier stages of the tour can put South Africa under pressure.

South Africa might start with favourites but this time in particular, Indian fans have bigger hopes from the Indian team that comprises of Dhoni's calm headed approach and Kohli's positive intent. Let's hope for some great competitive cricket in this series. Don't forget to tune into Sony Ten HD channels and SonyLiv app for live cricket telecast and streaming of this India's tour to South Africa.

India takes on under performing Sri Lanka in T20 matches

India vs Sri Lanka T20 Series Preview

Sri Lanka has been on a fully fledged tour to India that includes all forms of cricket. We are already through the test and ODI series. We are left with the shortest version of the game i.e. T20 cricket. Sri Lanka is scheduled to play three T20 International matches in India before the home team tours to South Africa for a tough outing.

So far so good for India, both the test and ODI series are pocketed and they look confident enough to nail the T20 series as well. Having said so, a little credit this time goes to Sri Lanka for out performing India in patches, especially in the test series and first ODI. But if we summarise the overall tour so far, India has shown a better body language and resistance. Team looked out of sorts in absence of Kohli in the first ODI but then Rohit Sharma led with an example and hammered yet another double hundred in ODI matches.

Coming back to the upcoming T20 series, this post will help you with the schedule, venue, squads and future tour information for India and Sri Lanka.

India vs Sri Lanka T20 Live Streaming and Telecast

Cricket fans in India can watch live cricket streaming of the T20 series on HotStar mobile app. If you wish to sit back, relax and enjoy live telecast on TV, tune into the Star Sports Channels that provides live match in English and Hindi commentary.

Schedule

1st T20 International to be played at Cuttack on 20th December 2017

2nd T20 International to be played at Indore on 22nd December 2017

3rd T20 International to be played at Mumbai on 24th December 2017

Squads

Indian Squad
Rohit Sharma (captain), KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Jasprit Bumrah, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Mohammad Siraj, Basil Thampi, Jaydev Unadkat.

Sri Lankan Squad
Thisara Perera (captain), Upul Tharanga, Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, Chaturanga de Silva, Sachith Pathirana, Dananjaya De Silva, Kusal Janith Perera, Danushka Gunathilaka, Niroshan Dickwella, Asela Gunaratne, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Nuwan Pradeep, Vishwa Fernando, Dusmantha Chameera.

Prediction
While the T20 format is the most unpredictable format in cricket, this seems to be a bit easy to predict series. Indian team looks highly confident. The pitches where Sri Lankan team suffered, Indian team has flourished. It's not only about the home conditions that favour India, it also indicates how positive intent and performance consistency helps you win matches. So it should either be a 3-0 win for India or probably a surprise win for Sri Lanka would result in a 2-1 scoreline in favour of India.

What after the  T20 Series?

Sri Lanka travels to Bangladesh for an ODI series also involving Zimbabwe. Sri Lanka has lost 23 of their last 29 ODI matches and they really need to pull up their socks. A win in Bangladesh would add some confidence to the struggling squad.

Post this series, India travels to South Africa. The tour includes test, ODI and T20 matches. If India manages to win the test series there (which hasn't yet happened), Kohli's team would be one of the most successful test teams in the history of this game. Live streaming and telecast of India vs South Africa 2018 cricket series would be available in India on Sony Ten and Sony ESPN TV channels.

Smith vs Kohli

They are not only leading the sides but are undoubtedly one of the best batsmen of modern era. They both have their own strategies with one thing in common - aggression. So of course, their first tactic would also be to control the opposition's aggression. Smith has clearly stated that if they can keep Kohli silent, they have better chances of winning against India.

Players who missed out

The squad for doesn't include five names which were expected to be in contention. Dinesh Karthik, Shardul Thakur, Shreyas Iyer and Yuvraj Singh. The exclusion of Yuvraj Singh wasn't greeted with good reaction. Also Jadeja and Ashwin are rested for first three matches.

Prediction

If this was a test series, it was always a home advantage amongst this two teams. But in limited overs game, its hard to pick a team. Looking at the current form, we would pick India as favourites for the ODI series and T20 series can swing either ways. Let's expect best quality of cricket served to us from best of the cricketers.

India vs Sri Lanka ODI and T20 Series - Sri Lankan Surprise or India's Series?

India vs Sri Lanka ODI and T20 Series Preview

India were purely dominant in the test series beating Sri Lanka 3-0. Kohli and his team is on a roll in test arena nearing the records of England and Australia in terms of series wins. Talking about the limited over series now, will this bring some surprises from Sri Lanka or will it again be games belonging to India? While the latter looks more likely, let's expect some glimpses of outstanding performances from Sri Lanka in the limited version of cricket.

Watch India vs Sri Lanka Live Streaming Telecast on Sony ESPN Ten HD

Cricket fans in India can enjoy live streaming telecast of ODI and T20 matches on Sony ESPN and Sony Ten cricket channels. The telecast would be available in Hindi and English commentary. Cricket fans can enjoy live streaming of other cricket series going around the world on HotStar cricket app.

MS Dhoni and this series

With the selectors clearly stating that MS Dhoni now has to prove his mettle to reserve his place in the team, this series becomes important for him. With the next world cup two years down the line, majority of the cricket experts and fans want to see him in the World Cup 2019 squad. But with the clear stance from the selectors, its time for Dhoni to go out there; play freely and hit some big scores.

Sri Lanka under pressure

India could have posted a second string team in Test matches to beat Sri Lanka. Things don't look different in the ODI and T20 series either. They have to pull a rabbit out of their hat to beat this strong Indian team. They have had issues to read the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav. The Indian quickies have also managed to give the Lankan batsmen tough times. Above all, they need to win atleast two matches to stay in contention for the ICC World Cup 2019. While Sri Lanka can take some confidence from their win over India in the Champions Trophy, they need to be mentally prepared for this uphill task now on their own soil.

Indian Line Up

What could be the likely line up for India? Rohit Sharma would open the batting replacing the likes of Rahane. Shikhar Dhawan continues to be his partner. Kohli bats one down. Kedar Jadhav with his explosive batting and tricky bowling earns a place in the side along with the likes of Dhoni and KL Rahul. Hardik Pandya would definitely be a part of the playing side. Kohli need to pick one from Axar Patel or Chahal. In bowlers, we feel Bumrah, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep have already earned their spot.

Conclusion

We may not expect easy wins for India in this series becomes ODI and T20 is a completely different ball game altogether. On your day, you can chase a 350 and boost your team's confidence for the following matches. Sri Lanka has a point to prove whereas India has to prove it's consistency. After analysing everything, it again seems to  be India's series.
